Induced genetic variation: Precision breeding utilizing conventional breeding technologies

Salle de séminaires Léon Hirth - 14h00

Dr. Agnieszka NIELSEN, Traitomic, Copenhague, Danemark, invitée par J.-E. Bassard

Agnieszka works at Traitomic, a Carlsberg business unit, that is specialized in developing traits of interest in plants and microbes. They use a non-GM approach to generate desired genetic variants.

Synopsis of the talk:

Induced genetic variation: Precision breeding utilizing conventional breeding technologies

Utilizing only traditional breeding techniques, TRAITOMIC fast-tracks the identification of traits by combining large genetic libraries with an innovative and patented screening method (FIND-IT: Accelerated trait development for a green evolution | Science Advances). The method was validated in many crops and legumes of common interest but also tropical plants for valuable traits in agriculture and food research and industry. Recently, the platform technology was successfully adapted to microbes also with applications in food, feed, and agricultural bio-solutions. It is a non-GM approach that can lead from seed to seed or a genetic variant microbe with new targeted genetic trait in few weeks.
