A plant enzyme hijacked to fight viruses

Plant viruses are responsible for huge crop yield losses worldwide. The team of Philippe Giegé has developed a new biotechnological approach that involves the relocation of a plant nuclease in the cytosol in order to cleave the genomic RNA of some viruses and thus block their replication. This study is published on February the 12th in Nature communications.
