Evolution and functions of cytochrome P450 enzymes in plants

An updated annotation of cytochromes P450 in plants, including for the first time algal genomes, lends information to better depict their evolution and emergence of their associated functions. It also reveals a so far unsuspected diversification of specialized metabolism in algae. The most recent functional data bring a new light on plant P450 promiscuity and on its role in P450 diversification in plants. This work opens access to databases including plant P450 annotation, as well as functional data when available.
