Plant growth, a story of protein selective degradation

Plant cell cycle control presents significant similarities with that of the animals, but also fundamental differences, particularly in the regulation of the entry into replication period of DNA. Pascal Genschik team reveals in the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana a novel molecular mechanism regulating this step based on the degradation of DNA replication inhibitors by the F-box protein, FBL17. FBL17 could be at the interface of many pathways of endogenous and exogenous signaling. This work is published in the journal The Plant Cell.
