The helicase RECG1 controls the dynamics of plant mitochondrial DNA

The team of José Gualberto and André Dietrich showed that the Arabidopsis DNA helicase RECG1  is involved not only in repairing mitochondrial DNA but also in the segregation process of this genome. These findings are important for understanding the rapid evolution of the organization of the mitochondrial genome, and may also have interest in the creation of a varietal diversity related to mitochondria. This study is published in the journal The Plant Cell.
