Advancing Sustainable Agriculture with Lysozyme-coated Nanoparticles

Karl-Heinz Kogel, 2024 Gutenberg Circle Chair hosted at IBMP, has shared valuable insights in his recent Nature Plants News & Views article. He highlights the groundbreaking work of Yong et al., showcasing how lysozyme-coated layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanosheets can significantly enhance nucleic acid delivery into plants.

This innovative approach improves cellular uptake by loosening plant cell walls, enabling efficient gene expression and silencing. Such advances pave the way for sustainable crop protection strategies, reducing reliance on synthetic chemicals while aligning with the goals of the European Green Deal.

The Gutenberg Circle Chair is generously funded by the Region Grand Est and Strasbourg Eurometropole, supporting impactful research and collaboration. At IBMP, we are proud to host and collaborate with experts like Prof. Kogel, who drive innovation in plant science and biotechnology.
