Plant Masters Day 2026: IBMP Opens Its Doors to the Next Generation of Researchers

On Tuesday, May 19, 2026, the Institute of Plant Molecular Biology (IBMP) will host the Plant Masters Day (Journée des Masters Plantes), a full day dedicated to master’s students in plant biology and to all those wishing to explore the many facets of this scientific field.

Held in the Léon Hirth conference room and the hall of IBMP, this event brings together students, researchers, and professionals for career testimonials, scientific presentations, and informal exchanges.

The morning will feature blitz talks by M1 Végé-LAB students presenting their projects from the PMBV, PBMB, and PEnGé programmes, alongside talks from alumni:

  • Rémy Merret (Research Director, CNRS/IBMP), PBMB 2007 alumnus, will reflect on his career as a CNRS researcher, from Strasbourg to Strasbourg and back.
  • Farley Mesaglio (Botanist, Conservatoire botanique Alsace-Lorraine, Erstein), PEnGé 2023 alumnus, will share what life looks like as a field botanist.
  • Laura Pauvert (Production Manager, TWISTAROMA, Illkirch-Graffenstaden), PMBV 2024 alumna, will describe her journey from biology to analytical chemistry.

The afternoon will open with a seminar in English by Josselin Clo (Research Associate, LIVE laboratory, Strasbourg), entitled “Consequences of polyploidy on phenotypic and genetic diversity in flowering plants”, followed by:

  • Dorian Rossi (PhD student, IBMP), PMBV 2023 alumnus, on specialized plant metabolism: from undergraduate to PhD.
  • Marine Millard (Urban planner, ADEUS, Strasbourg), PEnGé 2023 alumna, on the connections between ecology and urban planning.
  • Karima El Mahboubi (Teaching and Research Associate, University of Orléans), PBMB 2020 alumna, on how omics approaches shed light on plant-microorganism interactions.

Most presentations will be held in French; the afternoon seminar will be in English.

Two coffee breaks with poster sessions will provide additional opportunities for informal discussion throughout the day.

Join us on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at IBMP, salle Léon Hirth, from 8:15 am!
